Mount Monument is a single vineyard in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges. It sits at the base of a mamelon formed 6.25 million years ago.
Our new cellar door and restaurant sits above the MOUNT MONUMENT winery overlooking 7 acres of estate wine including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling and overlooking the western sculpture garden that sits below the volcanic outcrop that is central to the property.
Mount Monuments Winemaker, Ben Ranken crafts the wines through organic and biodynamic processes.
Winner of 2021 Young Gun of Wine Vigneron Award for the “…commitment that Ben Ranken has made to a region that is poised to be a major voice in the future of great Australian wine.”
“Ranken’s work amongst the vines is focused as much on improving the expression of his fruit to make ever-better wine as it is to restore a natural balance for broader environmental goals.”
Ben has also planted 4 acres on the northern terraces of the property: more Pinot noir Riesling and Nebbiolo for future wines. He i also making Heathcote Shiraz, Sangiovese, Grenache Rose and Greco.
Our young local chef is Ben Salt, who is passionate about supporting and using local suppliers and producers.
There are about 30 sculptures scattered around the property to explore including by Louise Paramour, Lisa Roet, Tom Borgos, Richard Stringer, Heather B. Swann, Neil Taylor. Most of the sculptures are designed and made by Nonda Katsalidis.
All sculptors and works are detailed on our website.
Our hope is that the winery experience is enhanced by Art and sculpture and that the space may be utilised by the local Arts and general community over time.
The newly opened restaurant has an offering of a 4 course set menu with a focus on seasonal produce and local producers. We are proud to partner with Force of Nature, Azzuri Cheese and Long Paddock amongst others. We follow this ethos through with our beverage options also, we are proud to serve Animus gin, Autonomy spirits and Saint Felix vodka. Our cocktail list is all about minimising waste and maximising local flavours as designed by cellar bar manager Karl Kosa.
Our wines are a true example of the individuality of the Macedon Ranges. Our region is the coldest in Australia, due to this we have smaller yields but they are of the highest quality. Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Noir are the heroes of the property.
