Recent nods to his skills as a songwriter and a performer include being voted "Melbourne's Best Busker" by The Herald Sun & popular vote, a national support slot with Kasey Chambers & The Fireside Disciples, and an endorsement by Cole Clark guitars. He has performed on stages at Byron Bay Bluesfest, Queenscliff Music Festival, & Falls Festival to name a few, and played with artists such as Marcus King (USA), The Waifs & The Badloves.

Macrame is a grounding craft with a meditative aspect as you tie the knots to create your beautiful textiles. This creative class will give you the basic skills to continue making macrame at home as even the most intricate designs are made up of a few simple knots that we will learn throughout this course.

Macrame uses a series of knots to make functional and decorative pieces, they can be two-dimensional, like a wall hanging or you can make them three-dimensional and made to hang bowls or pots - your options are only limited by your imagination!

You will be given your choice of rope, as well as a wooden ring and terracotta pot so you can create your plant hanger to take home for yourself or as a gift for a friend or family member.

McDermott and North + Jesse Lawrance + Crosswind

McDermott and North + Jesse Lawrance + Crosswind

Aug 13, 6:00pm

Chewton, Victoria, AustraliaChewton, VIC Map

Anyone hanging around the thrift boutiques and bars of Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley over the past couple of years will be familiar with McDermott & North as they cut their teeth and song writing chops as one of the city's most beloved busking duos. The pair possess a sophistication in their musical performance and songwriting style that has a tangible sense of the ‘60’s, while bringing a modern twist to their style. Meeting at Brisbane’s Embassy Bar in 2016, the Indie/Folk duo are made up of Paddy McDermott and Rhys North, both of whom were performing as solo artists in their own right upon their introduction at the venue's 'Open Mic' night, quickly finding a harmonious blend of their vocal styles and song writing approach.

Jesse Lawrance is a song writer, guitar player and singer based in Castlemaine, Victoria. Blending folk and Americana styles in his music he digs deep to craft songs that bring these rich storytelling traditions to a contemporary audience. From etchings of love—lost or found, to character sketches in full colour, every song works to draw a life, a situation, a time.

Jesse’s commitment to the art of storytelling was brought about by his early exposure to the so-called Texas songwriter tradition; he recalls, ‘When I was a kid, we used to drive everywhere in this old Chrysler my father had, listening to a tape of Guy Clark…There was a whole world inside that cassette—fully formed characters who lived and breathed and died in those songs…I think that really opened my mind to what songwriting could be.’

Jesse has been playing the bars of Melbourne’s vibrant roots music scene since his late teens. In 2007 he formed the Goodtime Medicine Band who built a loyal following with their intoxicating blend of blues, country and folk over the course a five year residency at Brunswick’s Lomond Hotel, as well as multiple festival appearances and a successful live album. In 2015 Jesse formed the Bon Tons–a rhythm and blues outfit featuring Dean Hilson, Jason Liu Soon, Steve Temple and Paul Williamson. The band continue to treat audiences to scintillating New Orleans R&B

Taylor Sheridan at The Macedon Railway Hotel

Aug 13, 7:00pm

Macedon Railway Hotel33 Smith StreetMacedon, VIC3440 Map

Singer/songwriter Taylor Sheridan, started his career as a teenager in Rural Victoria and describes his music as 'soulfully acoustic' with influences varying from Stevie Wonder all the way to James Taylor.

Taylor says he has always tried to combine elements of these different styles and make something fresh.

“I love the storytelling of acoustic folk and the singer/songwriter thing, but singing soulfully (at least trying) is something that feels incredibly natural to me. Lyrics and melody are where my heart lies but if you find the right chords that genuinely excite you, that’s the real payoff.

Having released two independent EPs and a string of singles that have featured in the iTunes Top 10, Taylor has toured all around the country playing with some of Australia's finest acts including Pete Murray, Vanessa Amorosi, Daryl Braithwaite and John Farnham.

Taylor's talent for harmonies was most recently recognised when he joined the iconic Australian band 'Taxiride' after being their support act for 2 years and says it's a 'career highlight'.

Delsinki presents "Sing a Song of Sixpence" at The Macedon Railway Hotel

Delsinki presents "Sing a Song of Sixpence" at The Macedon Railway Hotel

Aug 14, 7:00pm

Macedon Railway Hotel33 Smith StreetMacedon, VIC3440 Map

Delsinki presents "Sing a Song of Sixpence", which hits the Macedon Railway Hotel stage Friday 12th August!

Songs are magical things: some fall suddenly from the ether, others are slow labours of love. All songwriters say it. Everyone has heard it. Universally, they're inspired by personal experiences and observations of life and human nature. Sometimes their meaning remains - or, over time, becomes - a mystery.

An age-old tradition - perhaps most famously rendered these days at
Nashville's iconic Bluebird Cafe - a writers' round presents a number of songwriters together on stage, taking turns. In an intimate and informal
setting, they also interact, teasing more insight from each other. "Sing a Song of Sixpence" adds a unique instrumentalist or two to the proceedings, to help tease out more insight and to shine new lights and nuance onto the songs.

A poignant and unpredictable experience, it enables artists to learn more about each other - and themselves - while giving the audience rare insight and access into the creative processes.

Funk Junkies come together to celebrate and share their love of funk music. A collection of some of Central Victoria's finest musicians, with backgrounds in jazz, blues, soul, classical, funk, punk and everything in between, these guys are happiest when they let the groove take over and channel the irrepressible sounds of the 70's. Most recently the Funk Junkies have been writing and performing their own original funk tapestries, but they still make time to play the grooves that first brought them together, by funk masters like The JBs, Idris Muhammad, Grover Washington Jr, Curtis Mayfield, The Meters and many more. This is the band that will take you to groove town, while they lay out a set of what Maceo Parker so fondly called "happy music!".
