Italian-style wines. Wine Shed tastings, sales, or buy online.
Mt Franklin Estate blends into the contours of the ancient lava flow from Mt Franklin a few minutes north of Daylesford. It’s more than 470 000 years since Mt Franklin – or Lalgambook – blew its top, and bedded down the mafic geology of this rich landscape. But that’s just part of the story. Our Mafic wines capture the flavour and texture of Lalgambook’s rich volcanic flows, with quality spring water from the base of Mt Franklin. Vines thrive under clear skies at cool elevation 360 metres above sea level in the far north-west corner of the Macedon wine region. Hand-reared vines of Dolcetto, Pinot Grigio and Nebbiolo continue a tradition of fresh, accessible Italian-style wines – a nod to Swiss-Italian migrants who brought their craft to our part of the world in the mid-19th century.
