Charming and full of exuberance is seventeen-year-old Josh from Rainbow Eggs.
When he’s not at school, playing basketball or running one of the most successful free-range, ethical egg businesses in Australia, he loves hitting the bushwalking trails around the region. We asked him to let us in on his favourites:
“Hanging Rock Reserve is a must. The family and I will often head there for a picnic and ‘walk the rock’. You’re guaranteed to see something new each time. Be on the lookout for the kangaroos and koalas.
Mount Macedon also has some of the best hiking trails in Victoria I think. Start at the base and make your way to the Cross at the top. It’s a good one to do regardless of the season. In Winter you may even be able to see some snow. Be sure to stop by the Trading Post on Mount Macedon while you’re there for great coffee and some regional food to refuel you.
My best-kept secret is Mount Charlie Flora reserve. This little-known spot is excellent for mountain biking and hiking. You’ll see some astonishing wildflowers and native plants. Afterwards, head to Baringo or Jed in Gisborne for a great recovery brunch.”
