Bringing people and truffles together.

Truffle Treasures was established in 2007 in the Goldfields Region of central Victoria using Holly Oak trees inoculated with Tuber melanosporum (the Perigord black truffle). Our truffle season runs through the winter months from June to August.

Our aim is to bring people and truffles together, so that the enjoyment of this culinary delicacy can be widely shared. We have been hosting truffle events since 2010 in order to showcase cultivation of truffles in Australia while providing the opportunity for people to experience the sight, texture, aroma and taste of earth’s ‘black gold’ first hand.

We welcome visitors to our purpose-built Truffle Treasure Trove, which provides dedicated space for showcasing the extraordinary characteristics of the mysterious black truffle – in the comfort of our cosy wood fire. We offer truffle events, private hunts, gift certificates, farm-gate sales on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and our on-line shop for purchasing truffles delivered directly to your door.

Truffles are revered all over the world for their unique culinary value – adding umami and their distinctive flavour to a vast range of dishes, both savoury and sweet.
Each year as the days grow shorter, the nights grow longer, the temperatures fall and the early morning frosts kick in – there is a growing sense of anticipation and excitement about what lies in store for the truffle harvest ahead!

As the countdown to the season continues our canine crew, Abbie, Holly and Willow, have been refining their technique for pinpointing the location of our hidden treasure, while we have been monitoring conditions under the trees to detect early signs of truffle activity.

In honour of the French ancestry of our truffles’ family tree – the bottle of Moët waits in readiness for the celebration of our first ripe truffle for the season – a tradition that is maintained each year!
