Discover creative metal garden art made onsite and artisan wares
Overwrought Sculpture Garden and Gallery is located in Blampied only eight minutes from the popular tourist town of Daylesford. Founded in 2006, we are a business dedicated to creating beautiful hand-made decorative metal work of all kinds. Owner and artisan David Dawson has a background in welding and a passion for design. He decided to bring those two elements together when he created the business. Originally with a focus on making gates, our range has since expanded to now include wall art, garden art, sculptures, signs, furniture, fire pits, bird baths and privacy screens.
A massive farm shed that once housed semi trailers for cattle transport has been retrofitted to manufacture our ever growing range of handmade products. From an old hay shed with a dirt floor we have created a high roofed, light and welcoming gallery space that whilst incorporating many rustic elements from its former life is still stylish and contemporary. Here we sell a combination of David’s designs as well as a range of work from many other local artists, artisans and makers. This range includes paintings, ceramics, jewellery, photography, woodwork, handbags, fibre arts, artisans teas and candles. With so many talented artists in this region we have chosen art that inspires us and compliments the naturalistic feel of our gallery environment.
From our gallery our customers step into a beautifully landscaped sculpture garden where larger works are uniquely displayed. We have created an extensive native garden that incorporates dry creek beds, a billabong and fish ponds, cactus gardens and a performance space. It is a tranquil haven to explore and relax in. A place of peace to contemplate the art in a natural environment.
With our customer comfort always in mind we have now opened a coffee cart in our gallery serving delicious artisan coffee, hot chocolate and chai from Ballarat based businesses Coffee Pirates and Grounded Pleasures with milk from local Inglenook Dairy. Sweet treats are also available with your hot beverage to be enjoyed by the fire in our gallery or at one of the many tables scattered amongst the ponds and greenery of our sculpture garden. With our resident artist on site you can include a guided tour of our studio workshop in your visit. Bookings essential via our website. We have toilets, good access and ample parking for caravans and buses. We look forward to having you visit us.
