Guitar Making Courses and an Art Gallery thats all about music!

Luthier Nick Carpenter has been making musical instruments for over 30 years. He began Wildwood Instruments in 1999 and has travelled extensively throughout Australia selling his instruments at festivals. He set up his workshop in Mount Franklin, just 8 minutes out of Daylesford, in 2012 and now offers students the opportunity to build their own guitars. He regularly runs a two day Electric Guitar Making Course and a one day Cigar Box Guitar Making Course. Hosting an intimate group of up to four students at a time, Nick cheerfully guides his students through the process of putting an instrument together. There is a wide selection of guitar models available and anyone 16 years or older is welcome to come and give guitar building a go, as there is no previous experience required. You can see the range of guitars and available dates on offer at the website.

Nick is also an artist and creates amazing sculptures and 3D artworks based around the theme of music. And so, the Wildwood Instruments Art Gallery opened its doors in November 2021. The gallery is open Saturdays and Sundays 10am to 4pm where you are welcome to pop in and check out his unique style of art and see what’s on offer. Nick will be there to have a chat, or you may even witness a guitar making course in action from the viewing window.
