We’ve all been feeling the struggle. We’re missing our friends and family through lockdown and social distancing, along with all those little things that make our Australian lifestyle amazing.
Pretty soon we’re going to see social distancing measures reduced, and we can’t wait. While there will still be steps to be taken, and restrictions in place, it will be an excellent time to spend with those you haven’t seen for so long.
The first thing on your list may be a weekend away. And we’ve got the perfect place in mind; Lawson Lodge, Macedon. When you stay, you enjoy exclusive use of the entire property. There are fifty-three acres of bushland, gardens and golf fairways all to yourself. It’s much easier to maintain social distancing when there is no one else around. Yes, I did say golf course. For all those golfing fanatics, you will have unlimited use of the spectacular 9-hole golf course.
Not only is there an abundance of space, but the leisure facilities are outstanding. Everything you’ve been missing in lockdown is delivered in spades – cinema, sports bar, alfresco BBQ area, fishing, tennis and basketball. It’s all in one place, and you don’t have to share. Whether you prefer enjoying a cold beer looking out over the lake, snuggling in front of the wood fire in the lounge with a glass of red, or watching your favourite movies on our 10ft cinema screen, there is an experience for everybody.
The entire 53-acre property is stunning. Surrounded by trees and wildlife, and with views of Mount Macedon, you’ll feel instantly relaxed the moment you arrive. The 9-bedroom Canadian bungalow sleeps up to 20 guests and features two living areas, four bathrooms and a huge country style kitchen – more than enough room to social distance but close enough to reacquaint yourself with loved ones.
The Macedon Ranges is an incredibly beautiful region to visit at any time of year. Mount Macedon, Hanging Rock and wineries, cafes and restaurants are a stone throw away. Some of these businesses have reinvented themselves during the shutdown, providing home delivery and take away options showcasing the regions produce. For anyone interested in catering, there are outstanding suppliers, just a phone call away. After all, we have all had enough of cooking.
Every weekend Mt Towrong Vineyard offers a sample of their outstanding Italian menu, specialising in local seasonal produce and home-cooked deliciousness. Fans of Source Dining in Kyneton can now enjoy their delicious fare with ‘Heat at home’ meal options. With a weekly menu that includes dumplings, confit duck, slow-cooked lamb and pork belly, dinner at home has never been so glamorous. Local Japanese restaurant, Kuzu Izakaya, is providing take away. Order your favourites online, including sashimi, bao and Japanese fried chicken. The Victoria Tavern, also in Woodend, offers full takeaway pub menu, including parmas and a selection of beers. We are totally in love with Big Tree Distillery in Newham, run by the gorgeous Gary and Catherine, a trip to their stunning farm distillery is a must-do, even if just for a takeaway bottle or two.
Whether you are interested in organising a half-day golf experience with your mates, a corporate retreat or a weekend getaway with your family and friends, your stay at Lawson Lodge will be one to remember.
