Tiny town with a big history.

Vaughan Springs is a tiny town with a big history firmly embedded in the gold rush era of which many of the impacts can still be seen in the landscape today. The stunning red vista with it’s dramtic cliffs, known as Red Knob, are the result of the hydraulic sluicing that took place in the mid 20th century when the area was blasted in the search for gold. Stop to take in the view over the valley from the roadside lookout which has a gravel parking area.
