TESTIMONY from July 2019 retreat participant:

I’m not sure I can find the words to explain the magic of Marye’s “Return to Wholeness” retreat that I was fortunate to be a part of this weekend. We gathered at the beautiful Continental House where Marye held a sacred and nurturing space for us to share, learn, grow and heal. Yoga, meditation, sound baths, Ayurvedic treatments, a food as medicine workshop, sharing circles, rest, grounding, connection. We were nourished amongst nature in body, mind and spirit. Thank you Marye for gifting us this space, this time and touching our lives in the most transformative way.
- Carmen, Glenlyon

Facilitated in gratitude by Marye O’Brien (limited places available)

In this short 3 hour course Sarah will guide you through learning the traditional techniques to make your own silver jewellery. In order to ensure you are able to create further projects at home on the completion of your class there is a strong focus on using tools that are readily available and able to be set up and used at home.

Each participant will have the choice of creating a ring, set of earrings, or a pendant, in a design of their own style. They will be guided through the process from marking out their design, cutting, forging, soldering, sanding, texturing and then finally finishing their piece.

These sessions are aimed to be a fun creative experience and no prior jewellery making or metal working experience is necessary.

In line with the Pause Exhibition in our Main Gallery presented by Art Aviso, we are running button theme workshops!

In this full day class you'll learn to create a simple design for the front of a tote bag, before riffling through our huge button collection! We have gathered buttons from across the decades as well as some shiny new ones so that you can colour your design with a array of buttons. We'll then transfer your design to your tote bag and teach you the tips and tricks of gluing most your buttons onto the totes.

After a crash course in embroidery, you will then sew on your remaining buttons and embellish your design with embroidery floss. You will be able to take home your project at the end of the session and are welcome to continue to embellish your tote at home!

We will go over using colour and texture of the buttons to create depth and interest in your design, tips and tricks as well as our go to products to make sure everything stays put, basic embroidery stitches and button attachment patterns to create embellishments as well as a fabulous day out full of laughter, fun, and a delicious lunch.

Included is a delicious lunch will be provided created from all local organic produce and we are able to cater for any dietary requirements you may have. We also provide you with a divine afternoon treat and tea and coffee facilities are available throughout the course.

Intensive Beginners Jewellery Short Course

Intensive Beginners Jewellery Short Course

Dec 9, 2020,9:00 - Dec 10, 2020,17:30

Kyneton

This intensive beginners jewellery making course is held over two-full-days during the week or on a weekend. You’ll work at your own pace while learning the fundamentals of jewellery making. There’s no additional costs and no need to pay extra to work in silver, it’s all included. And rather than attending three-hour classes week-after-week, you'll learn it all in two days.

Everyone will be making different pieces of jewellery, so you'll see how various types of jewellery are made. Classes are held around a big jewellers bench, so you'll have your own space and tool kit to use during the class. And, the beauty of working around this big jewellers bench is that you will see what everyone else is working on. It's great fun and a really supportive environment in which to learn. At the end of this course you’ll take home three to four finished pieces of silver jewellery - one pair of earrings, a pendant, (and/or a second pair of earrings) and a ring.

This course is 15 hours in total and during Covid-19 restrictions, is limited to three people. Both days, we will order lunch from a local cafe and this will be delivered to the studio. A menu will be emailed to you in advance. Lunch included in your course fee. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options are available.
