Who

Daylesford Macedon Tourism Ltd is the Regional Tourism Board for the Daylesford and Macedon Ranges region.

It is our responsibility to attract visitors to our lovely corner of the world, work with and support the Daylesford and Macedon Ranges tourism industry, and partner with the Victorian Government and the private sector to continually develop new and exciting tourism projects in the region. We feel privileged to be given this opportunity and love every minute of it.

We are an independent body, operating as a not for profit business, where all profits are reinvested back into developing and promoting the region. Our office is in Hepburn Springs and we employ staff and have board representatives from around the region – Daylesford, Hepburn, Kyneton, Macedon, Trentham and Castlemaine and Macedon. Visit Victoria and Hepburn and Macedon Ranges Shire Councils are key financial stakeholders in the organisation, providing core funding that underpins the organisation’s operations.

Our key objectives are to increase year-round visitation to the Daylesford and Macedon Ranges region. To build a richer Daylesford and Macedon Ranges experience for you through the development of new products and services that make the most of our key regional strengths, to develop the region as a best-practice tourism industry that enhances the visitor experience, and, support the creation of a sustainable and engaged regional tourism industry, enabled for growth.

The Daylesford and Macedon Ranges region is one of the fastest growing and highest yielding tourism regions in Australia. Its popularity is partly due to its ‘compact diversity’: there is a huge amount to do in what is one of Australia’s smallest tourism regions. We have four key ‘brand pillars’.

In the food and drink space, we punch well above our weight, with more awards per capita than any other region, whether they be chef’s hats or wine gold medals. Our rich soil and pure mineral water allow our farmers to grow some extraordinary produce that is available in local restaurants and farmers’ markets.

Many people come here to escape and rejuvenate. Indeed our region is best known as a centre of wellness, having 80% of Australia’s fresh mineral water, many spa and therapy offerings and a huge range of nature-based activities.

The region’s history and culture is also significant and the mineral springs tie into this. Indigenous Australians valued the rich mineral water, before the Swiss Italians recognised its value during the gold rush era. The gold rush bestowed on us a number of charming and well-preserved villages dating back to the mid-1800’s.

This history and culture also paved the way for our region’s strong art and artisanal offering. On any day you can find classes and workshops that teach you a ‘lost trade’ and there are many art galleries and installations dotted around the region. We also host many book fairs and writer’s events and festivals throughout the year. Our region has attracted artists and creatives for many decades.

We are keen to hear of your experiences, and you are free to provide us with your feedback.  Please feel free to contact us.  While you are out and about please think about sharing your photos with us.  Here’s how to stay connected with us and see what’s on in the region – tag @daylesfordmacedonranges or use #daylesfordmacedonlife.
